Awaji Art Circus 2022 Spring Performance
”Gods Among Us” New Version

In October 2021, Awaji Art Circus presented its original show "Gods Among Us" for the first time. Gathering talented performers hand-picked from throughout Japan, AAC presented a re-imagined telling of Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and Susanoo, characters from Japanese historical chronicle, the Kojiki. In response to overwhelming praise, we brought Gods Among Us back once again in May 2022, updated with new performances and better than ever!

With some of the world' top-level performing artists, the show brought to the stage breath-taking acrobatics, tricking, freestyle dance, breakdance, and more, all while blending beauty, excitement, humor, and the powerful energy of street performance. And of course for the second iteration of Gods Among Us, we had the pleasure of introducing so many new friends and numbers to our show! Combining the essence of street performance with theatrical space, and tradition with the modern, Gods Among Us was reborn once again!

Even better than last year!

I felt so much joy during the performance!

Could watch this show again and again. My son really loved it! We're excited for the next event!

My 2-year-old son was thrilled throughout the whole show! It was so much fun.

I loved all of the amazing performances! So much talent involved, and it uplifted my spirits.

I felt everyone's youth and strength. I hope everyone continues doing their best, and the show brought me to tears at one point.

My child loved it. We'd love to come back next year!

The pantomime performer was so funny! I think it's great how the show combined so many different artists and connected them to a story. I really want to see more!

Activity Report

Performance tour at Awaji Island local schools

We visited a selection of elementary schools throughout Awaji Island to present a special version of "Gods Among Us", which included piano and violin members of the Music Island project in Awaji Island. At the schools, we hoped to achieve one of our main project missions: to provide the children who will lead our next generation with the opportunity to experience various types of performances, to deepen their understanding of culture and art, and to inform them of the possible lifestyle of artists and performers happening now in Awaji Island. We had so much fun, and received a great response from all of the kids!

Date:

PR event in Tokyo Midtown

We held a special Awaji Art Circus PR event in Tokyo Midtown for two days during Golden Week to let people know more about our activities on Awaji Island. For the event, we participated as a finale performance for the hula and Hawaiian culture festival, "One Aloha Festival 2022" . In the performance, we gave audience members a taste and preview of "Gods Among Us", which we held on Awaji Island later the same month. In addition to the performance, we introduced more about the regional revitalization efforts being carried out on Awaji Island, bringing the charm of Awaji Island to Tokyo.
