SUMMARY 2021

Awaji Art Circus 2021
"Gods Among Us"

For our 2021 Awaji Art Circus event, we hosted another amazingly talented group of world-class performers and street artists from all over Japan to collaborate in Awaji Island!

And for the first time ever, to critical acclaim, Awaji Art Circus proudly presented its own original theatre performance show Gods Among Us, an original retelling of stories from the Japanese folk chronicle, the Kojiki. We welcomed some of our biggest audiences from across Japan to experience the powerful tales and dramas of Amaterasu, Susanoo, and Tsukuyomi together in one special performance. Through the talent of eleven performing artists, Gods Among Us showcased breathtaking acrobatic arts, freestyle movements, breakdancing, double dutch, rhythmic gymnastics, and more; delivering beauty, excitement, humor, and power, but most of all, the energy and joy of street circus. Our aim was to captivate viewers with an expressive interpretation of Japan's most beloved characters in folklore, and we were sincerely pleased by the overwhelming positive reception it received!

Therefore, we are humbly excited to welcome future audiences both new and old to enjoy our next endeavors in fusing street art and theatre, in 2022 and beyond!
