Awaji Art Circus 2025 Summer Program
In 2025, following the success of 2024, we implemented not only the Autumn Program but also expanded our activities with a Summer Program.
Through school visit performances and appearances at various events across Awaji Island, the Summer Program brought even more energy to the island, delivering joy and many smiles throughout the season.

During the school visit performances of the Summer Program, we presented baton twirling, freestyle basketball, and rope skipping performances, along with a variety of hands-on workshops led by the artists. After watching professional performances, the children had the opportunity to try the techniques themselves, enjoying a truly valuable and memorable experience.
Whether handling a basketball, spinning it on their fingertips, twirling a baton, or challenging themselves with double-under rope skipping, many of the skills initially felt difficult. However, after just 10 to 15 minutes of practice, many children were able to master them and experience the joy of success.
What impressed us most was that students from elementary schools we had visited for the second consecutive year performed better than middle school students experiencing the program for the first time. This clearly showed that experience and repetition truly make a difference.
We will continue to develop and expand this school visit program, bringing new opportunities for creative and physical experiences to even more children in the future.
Performers:
・Koetsu Kurachi (Baton Twirling)
・Kirill Fire (Freestyle Basketball)
・Hiroma Kurono (Rope Skipping)

Feedback from the Children

To everyone at Awaji Art Circus,
The basketball was really cool, and the baton was cool too.
I want to be able to do other cool tricks next time as well.

To everyone at Awaji Art Circus,
I was surprised by all the different shows.
They were fun, happy, and exciting.
Someday, I want to be able to do them too.

Awaji Art Circus showed us a basketball performance and a baton performance. They also taught us how to practice, so I practice at home every day.
Both the basketball and the baton performances were amazing.
Thank you very much for showing us such a fun circus.
I want to see the circus again.

I was surprised by all of your acrobatic performances.
Especially the tricks using a basketball — I thought they were amazing. The third period, which usually feels very long, passed by so quickly.
If I have another chance, I would like to see a performance by all 15 performers. Thank you very much for coming to our school.
The Awaji Art Circus Executive Committee held its annual general meeting on June 19. The meeting brought together mayors and deputy mayors from across Awaji Island, representatives from the prefectural government, related organizations, and key figures supporting the local economy. It served as an important opportunity to share perspectives on the progress of Awaji Art Circus and its future direction.
On the day, a report on the implementation of Awaji Art Circus 2024 was presented, along with an overview of plans for 2025. Discussions also included future visions for expanding the project and confirmation of the executive and advisory structure for fiscal year 2025. At the networking reception following the meeting, open and constructive dialogue emerged through exchanges that transcended institutional roles, focusing on the future of Awaji Island through culture and the arts.
Awaji Art Circus will continue to work closely with local governments and communities, steadily advancing regional revitalization through culture and the arts.

Throughout the summer, Awaji Art Circus artists took part in a variety of events held across Awaji Island, captivating large audiences. At these events, the artists showcased performances that highlighted their individuality and advanced skills, sharing powerful and moving moments with visitors from both inside and outside the island. As a result, these encounters created unforgettable summer memories for many people.
